Position overview:
As an integral member of our mechanical team, your role will include preparing designs, specifications, technical reports, and capital cost estimates as well as performing field assignments, including equipment condition inspections as part of our ASSET Reliability Division. Travel to job sites on a short-term basis may be required. Your responsibilities may also include planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing projects; leading and preparing proposals; preparing or reviewing reports and memoranda; preparing or reviewing design documentation; and liaising with clients and contractors. Your role may also include coordinating with and directing engineers, designers, and drafters to accomplish project goals.
Who you are:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and characteristics:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and registration as an engineer in training or a professional engineer with EGBC.
- Detailed design experience relevant to design of marine terminals and other bulk materials handling facilities is an asset.
- Experience writing, reading, understanding, and applying design criteria, industry standards, and client specifications.
- Experience conducting inspections and repairs at ports, marine terminals, and mines for a range of bulk material handling equipment is an asset.
- A demonstrated ability to liaise with clients, contractors, and consultants.
- A natural ability to take on a leadership role.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent record-keeping skills.
- Proficiency in Revit and/or AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks is considered an asset but is not required.
- A valid BC driver’s license is considered an asset but is not required.
